It’s only mid way through January and the hopes of the New Year are beginning to seem like a distant memory. Pressures set in and hopes fade or at least are temporarily shelved. You begin to reach for the candy bar, maybe order-in and suddenly you begin to make excuses for why you can’t make it to the gym. You’ll just start back on Monday because logically that’s the only day you can start back again…right?
But wait…don’t fall.
Maybe you already have and got a couple little bumps, a scratch or bruise, but please, get back up. Chances are you’ll blame life and that things got busy. But I would beg to differ and say that somewhere, your fear monster caught up to you. You see, according to Chinese Medicine, the winter is the time of the kidneys, which also houses fear when out of balance. The balance falls off kilter when we run ourselves ragged rather than root and ground ourselves instead. This is just one of the reasons why you shouldn’t detox during this time of year. Store that energy, rather than expect your body to have the expansive, pushing out nature that detoxing offers. You’ll be fighting against your body’s natural instinct and truthfully it’s not the right time.
