I’ve almost killed myself in the past.

The alarm would go off. It was 5:30am and I’d stumble out of bed almost hitting my face against the doorframe, as I’d exit the room to get to the bathroom. It was 2005 and I weighed roughly 25lbs heavier than I am today and every day I would almost kill myself.
This sounds dramatic, I know, but it’s true and I know by speaking with my patients, I’m not the only one. I worked out harder then than I do now and still couldn’t manage to take off the weight. I’d sweat, I’d beat myself up and yet nada. I didn’t get it. Looking back on this now I realize what one of the issues was:
The wrong workouts
Sure, I’d follow a class at the gym, sweat and groan in pain. I’d spend a good hour each day but realized that just like food, exercises need to be tailored to the individual. Each of us have different requirements, health issues, fat deposition, muscle function (fast or slow twitching) and age differences – mind you I’ve seen a 70 year old kick my ass in a workout. Whatever the case is, it’s discouraging not seeing the results you’re hoping for.
